Championship Course At The University Of New Mexico, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The University of New Mexico's Championship Golf Course first opened for play in 1967. The par-72 course was designed by Robert (Red) Lawrence.
The Championship Golf Course was situated on naturally hilly terrain and features wide rolling, sloping fairways with many elevation changes. Long and tough from the tournament tees, the course offers five sets of tee markers to challenge and enhance the enjoyment of any golfer. Although not a true desert course, the holes meander through desert-like terrain that serves as home to a variety of wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, owls and hawks. You might even catch a glimpse of a coyote.
This home course to the University of New Mexico golf teams is open to the public year round. They offer a full-service golf shop and practice facility including a large driving range, three practice greens and a unique 3-hole beginners course where newcomers and veterans alike can hone their skills. .

Best course in the state. Have been playing here since the early 90's. Recent changes in staff has changed this course from ho-hum to top notch. Would recommend this course to residents and visitors alike. Play the forward tees till you get used to the course!
